iPad Gets a Desktop-Style, 48-Track DAW with Plug-ins: What it Means, Answers from a Developer
Well not really with ‘plug-ins’, since Apple doesn’t allow them on ios devices. It has to be code statically linked in the application. Which kind of defeats the whole purpose of a plugin, that is something you can purchase and then you can use it on different applications.
I kind of view this more as another example pointing out the ridiculous unnecessary restrictions ios puts on app developers with their closed down architecture. Which become even more apparent as the computational power of the devices increases over time. Yes you can build a 48 track DAW for an ipad apparently, but look how restricted it is compared to a traditional conventional non-ios computer application.
